Jimmy Choo has come a long way, polishing shoe factories and restaurants in his twenties, and today, thanks in part to Carrie Bradshaw’s fondness for his footwear, he is an established name in fashion, even for fashion designers! When Choo graduates in 1983, he stays in London. Three years later, in 1986, he opens his first shop-cum-workshop in an old hospital building in Hackney. His first fan is Vogue, two years after opening his studio, the fashion magazine has an eight-page spread on Choo’s shoes, followed by Princess Diana, Beyonce, Victoria Beckham, Cate-Blanchett and Kate Moss. His creations are red carpet worthy, colorful, towering or dangerously sensual. But then, Choo emphasizes, always blessed with excellent walking comfort. No wonder, then, that, in the years that followed, many a fashion lover at Mr. Choo arrives.
